Welcome

Thanks for taking a few minutes to read my blog.  This started mainly because I was bored during back-to-back snow days and a long weekend, and a friend told me I needed to watch a new show on TV.  While I know that my writing is far from spectacular, and I don’t really expect to write on this regularly, I thought it was worth a try.  The fact that one of my third graders has already started his own blog was part of my motivation.

If you are wondering about the title, it is borrowed from a piece that I wrote for my graduate work titled Purple Crayons, Wild Things and Dots: Getting Lost in Children’s Literature and Curriculum.  I figure that most of my posts will be somehow connected to teaching and coaching children, and that chapter, which I wrote a few years ago, explains my philosophy on education and childhood.

Please click on the Posts page to read up on my latest random thoughts.  I hope you enjoy the writing.  Please feel free to comment and, if I ever get around to writing again, I will try to use your suggestions to improve the work.
